Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit provides comprehensive patient care within a specialized setting, ensuring safe and effective treatment aligned with clinical standards. The role involves assessing, planning, and implementing care for patients requiring close monitoring and post-operative management.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions accurately using age-specific criteria and clinical knowledge.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes, using proficiency in cardiac and pulmonary assessments.
• Manage chest tubes, drains, and other equipment per protocol, including assisting with removals and troubleshooting devices.
• Educate and supervise non-RN staff, such as LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries.
• Comply with hospital policies, including documentation, infection control, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Require 2+ years of critical care experience, specifically in post-operative open heart care.
• Possess current Ohio or Compact RN license with active BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including rhythm interpretation and responding to arrhythmias.
• Have experience with chest tube management, drain system management, and pre/post-procedure patient care.
• Ability to float to other units within skill set as needed.
• High attention to detail, strong clinical judgment, and effective communication skills.
