Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients in a Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring safe and high-quality maternal and fetal outcomes. Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor fetal and maternal well-being using appropriate equipment and guidelines.
- Administer medications and IV drips such as oxytocin, insulin, and epidural as ordered, following protocols.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately in electronic health records.
- Titrate IV drips and respond to fetal heart monitoring data per AWHONN standards.
- Assist with surgical procedures including Cesarean sections, circulating, and recovering patients post-operatively.
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license with current certifications, including Basic Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OB patient care, including gestational hypertension, diabetes, and preeclampsia.
- Ability to read and interpret fetal strips and EFM systems such as GE Centricity.
- Strong clinical skills in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
- Adequate alertness for on-call shifts and ability to respond within 30 minutes.
