Job Summary:
Provide preoperative nursing care to patients scheduled for surgery, ensuring they are prepared physically and emotionally. Collaborate with surgical teams to facilitate smooth pre-surgical assessments and patient education.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ health histories and adequacy of preoperative preparations.
• Administer pre-surgical medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Educate patients and families on preoperative procedures, expectations, and post-surgery care.
• Collaborate with physicians and surgical teams to coordinate patient care plans.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in medical records.
• Follow strict infection control and safety protocols throughout preoperative procedures.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Proven experience in preoperative or surgical nursing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pre-surgical assessments, patient education, and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently within a team in a fast-paced environment.
• BLS certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS are a plus.
