Job Description
Job Summary:
Occupational Therapist providing pre-procedure and perioperative clinic support focused on elective surgical patient readiness. Conducts thorough assessments, medication reconciliation, and collaborates closely with nursing staff to support safe, efficient patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments with an anesthesia-focused lens, including functional status evaluation and cardiac and respiratory considerations.
- Complete detailed medication reconciliation to support accurate pre-procedure planning.
- Assess patient needs relevant to occupational function and perioperative preparation.
- Collaborate with a registered nurse and nurse’s aide to coordinate patient workflow and care continuity.
- Support patient evaluation for adult surgical populations, including total joint replacements, complex spine cases, urology, gynecology, and general surgery.
- Work under the anesthesiologist’s direction in the perioperative clinic (pre-procedure testing) while maintaining documentation standards.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active Occupational Therapist license.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills for complex perioperative and functional needs.
- Show proficiency in medication reconciliation and accurate documentation practices.
- Experience with adult orthopedic, neuro, or inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
