Job Summary:


Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct patient care under the direction of a Physical Therapist, focusing on functional mobility, safety, and evidence-based interventions. The role supports treatment plan implementation for adult and geriatric patients in an acute care environment.



Responsibilities:

• Implement the Physical Therapist’s plan of care for patients across treatment units.
  
• Assist with therapeutic exercises and functional training, including gait and transfer training.
  
• Educate patients and families on Home Exercise Programs, safety, and injury prevention strategies.
  
• Monitor and document patient responses, including pain assessments, sensory response, and strength testing results.
  
• Perform mobility assistance using appropriate assistive devices while reinforcing body mechanics and fall-risk precautions.
  
• Use required clinical equipment and safety tools (e.g., rolling walker, gait belt, hospital bed systems) to support safe care delivery.
  
  
  
  Qualifications:
  
• Hold an active Physical Therapy Assistant license (pending submission acceptable only with required active licensure at start).
  
• Possess current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  
• Bring at least 1 year of relevant experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, with acute care hospital experience required.
  
• Demonstrate competency with AROM/AAROM/PROM, vital signs, and assistive device training in a hospital setting.
  
• Proficiency in safety-focused interventions including lifting/transfers, environmental barrier identification, and fall prevention.
  
• Provide at least 2 recent (within 2 years) manager/charge references and complete required skill checklists with the application.
