Job Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care to patients through assessment, interventions, education, and reassessment. The role coordinates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support safe delivery outcomes, postpartum needs, and effective care planning.
Responsibilities:
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and ongoing reassessments according to policy.
- Assess pain and implement evidence-based pain management strategies while educating patients and families.
- Develop, revise, and evaluate the plan of care daily based on patient response and clinical effectiveness.
- Administer medications correctly by right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time, and right documentation.
- Provide age-appropriate patient care using growth and development principles across the lifespan.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care, consult relevant departments, and communicate clearly with care coordination for discharge planning.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active RN license in Ohio or a compact state at time of submission.
- Maintain current AHA certifications for BLS and ACLS.
- Maintain current NRP certification (AHA) and competency for bedside blood glucose waived testing.
- Deliver at least 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including postpartum and nursery experience.
- Possess BSN (preferred).
- Demonstrate safe medication administration, documentation, and competency maintenance within current standards.
