Job Description
Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to selected patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner while also delivering essential clerical office assistance. This role helps ensure accurate patient preparation, timely documentation, and safe, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms by stocking supplies and setting up instruments.
- Obtain and record vital signs and assist with patient preparation for examinations.
- Perform indicated diagnostic and screening procedures, including EKG, PFT, audiometry, and Titmus test, after completing evaluation requirements.
- Conduct laboratory-related tasks as indicated, including UDS, BAT, and phlebotomy, after completing evaluation requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient records by completing chart documentation, filing reports, and updating office systems.
- Support patient flow through telephone and in-person screening, appointment scheduling, and obtaining demographic/financial information.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active AHA BLS certification.
- Earn CMA credential (NHA, NCCT, AAMA, AMT, or equivalent listed certification).
- Complete an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
- Demonstrate proficiency in taking vitals, medical history intake, and medication list reconciliation.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of proper use and care of special medical equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational competency standards for patient care.
