Job Summary:
The CVICU Registered Nurse provides specialized cardiac care to critically ill patients post-cardiac surgery or with severe cardiovascular conditions. The role involves delivering comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care in a high-acuity environment to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and prioritize patient needs through critical thinking and advanced clinical evaluation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Administer complex cardiac therapies, medications, and invasive procedures following established protocols.
• Educate patients and families about post-operative care, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
• Monitorpatient responses to treatment, identifying complications early and escalating concerns promptly.
• Document nursing interventions, patient progress, and vital signs accurately to support quality care and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a Cardiac or CVICU setting.
• Critical care experience in open heart surgery and cardiac units preferred.
• EPIC electronic medical records experience highly desired.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; associate degree considered with relevant experience.
