Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care to patients across various hospital units, including critical care, emergency, and diagnostic services. They support diagnosis, treatment, and management of lung and breathing disorders while collaborating with clinical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer physician-prescribed respiratory therapies while understanding indications, contraindications, and potential complications.
• Set up, monitor, and operate mechanical ventilators and other respiratory support devices.
• Perform pulmonary function tests and assist with airway management, intubations, and emergency respiratory interventions.
• Document patient care accurately, including treatments, procedures, and equipment usage.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Successfully pass a national Respiratory Therapy credentialing exam.
• Possess current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of New Mexico.
• Maintain current BLS (CPR) certification; ACLS preferred.
• Exhibit at least two years of post-graduate respiratory therapy experience, with preferred critical care and pediatric experience.
