Job Summary:


Seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment supporting cardiac procedures. The ideal candidate will work closely with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes during complex cardiac surgeries.



Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during open heart and thoracic procedures, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and aorta repairs.
  
• Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvest using Terumo or Maquet 6 Pro with minimal supervision.
  
• Prepare surgical sites, instruments, and equipment to maintain a sterile environment.
  
• Support the surgical team in managing intraoperative patient care and procedural flow.
  
• Adhere to hospital policies regarding on-call, weekends, and unit-specific procedures.
  
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and assist with post-operative care as needed.
  
  
  
  Qualifications:
  
• Hold a current CSFA, CFA, or SA-C certification.
  
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of independent Endoscopic Vein Harvest experience.
  
• Possess at least 2 years of open heart first assist experience.
  
• Show proficiency in assisting with cardiac surgeries including CABG, valve work, and thoracic repairs.
  
• Be able to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  
• Comply with hospital dress code and safety protocols.
