Job Description
Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery RN Manager oversees the delivery of patient care in the labor and delivery unit, ensuring clinical excellence and staff supervision. This exempt leadership role involves day shift duties with some evening visibility, including weekend call responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate nursing staff to deliver high-quality maternal and neonatal care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Monitor clinical performance, provide mentoring, and promote professional development.
- Manage staffing schedules, including weekend call rotations every third weekend.
- Oversee patient care documentation and use of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM).
- Maintain certification and licensure requirements, including BLS, NRP, and state RN licensure.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hold current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Have at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role within labor and delivery.
- Demonstrate a minimum of five years of technical experience in nursing.
- Hold valid BLS and NRP certifications; national certification in nursing administration or specialty is preferred.
- Have two or more years of acute care hospital nursing experience in labor and delivery.
