Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to obstetric patients, ensuring safe and supportive childbirth experiences. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care, education, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of laboring patients, monitoring fetal and maternal well-being continuously.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs and stage of labor.
- Administer medications and interventions according to departmental protocols to support labor progress.
- Recognize early signs of complications, responding promptly with appropriate action and notifying providers as needed.
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care to foster understanding and compliance.
- Document all patient interactions, interventions, and observations accurately in compliance with hospital standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse license from North Dakota Board of Nursing or a Compact State Agreement.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics or approved provider.
- STABLE certification in neonatal stabilization.
- Prior experience in labor and delivery or maternal health nursing preferred.
