Job Description

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and leadership of the Surgical Services Department, including the Operating Room, Outpatient Surgical Services, Anesthesia, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. They ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while managing departmental operations, staff, and resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the Surgical Services Department, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and policies.
  • Evaluate and improve patient care delivery to promote safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage departmental fiscal, human, and material resources, including staffing, budgeting, and supply procurement.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and clinical outcomes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement through open communication and staff engagement.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with TJC, state, and federal regulations, applying age-specific and cultural considerations in care delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Alaska RN license in good standing with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare/Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ surgical services management experience, with at least two years in an operating room setting.
  • Certification such as CNOR or CSSM preferred, with a requirement to obtain within specified timeframes.
  • Knowledgeable of AORN Guidelines and Perioperative Nursing Standards; familiar with electronic health records like Cerner.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; ability to pass competencies for the role.
