Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide specialized pediatric intensive care to critically ill children in a busy Level II Trauma Pediatric ICU, ensuring that patient needs are met with precision and compassion.
Responsibilities:
- Administer direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients in accordance with hospital policies and standards.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, medical equipment, and laboratory results to assess patient condition.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
- Perform procedures such as IV starts, blood draws, and TPT placements with technical proficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EMR systems.
- Adhere to unit policies, safety protocols, and best practices for pediatric critical care.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active registered nurse (RN) license with a minimum of 2 years of current PICU experience.
- Possess BLS and PALS certifications; CRRT and APHON Pediatric Teaching Hospital experience preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, teaching hospital environment.
- Exhibit strong clinical skills in pediatric emergency and intensive care procedures.
- Show excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
