Job Description
Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and newborn. Uses critical thinking and independent judgment to deliver comprehensive care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor laboring patients, identifying any complications or deviations from normal progress.
- Administer medications and interventions such as magnesium sulfate and Pitocin in accordance with hospital protocol.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support positive patient outcomes.
- Document patient condition, reactions, and responses to treatment accurately and promptly.
- Supervise and direct the nursing care team, including CNAs, LPNs, and techs, to ensure effective patient support.
Qualifications:
- Hold a current Michigan State Nursing License.
- Possess at least 2 years of recent experience in a Birthing Center setting.
- Demonstrate experience with labor, delivery, newborn care, and postpartum management.
- Have prior travel nursing experience (preferred).
- Maintain or be willing to obtain current BLS certification (required).
- Be willing to obtain NRP certification (preferred).
