Job Summary:
Provides specialized nutritional care and education to patients, primarily focusing on monitoring food and drug interactions. Collaborates with physicians to suggest appropriate diet modifications and ensures accurate documentation of dietary information.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and screen patients to determine their nutritional needs and medical status promptly and accurately.
• Interview patients and their families to gather detailed information about food habits, preferences, and social factors impacting nutrition.
• Interpret laboratory results, physical, and social data relevant to patient nutrition care plans.
• Educate patients on dietary requirements, record diet instructions, and evaluate their understanding of the prescribed diet.
• Adjust patient menus as needed to meet individual nutritional and medical requirements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year of experience in dietetics or nutrition; two years preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
• Possess New York State Certification as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” for post-acute care settings or registration by the CDR as a Registered Dietitian for acute care settings.
• Maintain current CPR/BLS certifications, preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively educate and counsel patients.
