Job Description
Job Summary:
The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiography procedures to assist in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. This full-time role involves working primarily at Wilmington Outpatient with occasional coverage at Newark, supporting physician assessment and patient care in a busy outpatient setting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) examinations in accordance with physician requests.
- Document patient clinical histories and record imaging impressions on exam request forms.
- Assist cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiography procedures, including operation of equipment.
- Support clinical training of cardiac ultrasound students and cardiology fellows during practical sessions.
- Rotate on-call duties, including after-hours and weekend coverage, ensuring timely diagnostics.
- Conduct pediatric echocardiography when experienced, demonstrating adaptable care for all age groups.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized medical diagnostic ultrasound program or equivalent training.
- Registry-eligible and able to obtain RDCS or RCS certification within the first year of employment.
- Certified in CPR and able to pass ChristianaCare’s pre-employment physical exam.
- Registered or registry-eligible (pass within one year of hire) in cardiac sonography.
- Demonstrate knowledge of care tailored to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
