Job Summary:
Performs sterilization and preparation of surgical and hospital instruments, ensuring all equipment is properly processed, assembled, and ready for clinical use. Supports operating room and ancillary departments with instrument management and supply distribution.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminates, sterilizes, and prepares surgical instruments and trays following established protocols.
• Assembles and inspects instrument sets, ensuring accuracy and safety.
• Maintains a clean and organized sterilization environment, including regular cleaning of autoclaves and work surfaces.
• Performs routine diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment, including biological indicators and cycle validation.
• Collaborates with operating room staff and other departments to facilitate timely instrument and supply availability.
• Records loaner instruments and biological test results, and evaluates instrument safety and function.

Qualifications:

• Possesses a high school diploma or GED; associate’s or technical degree preferred.
• Holds a valid Sterile Processing Technician certification.
• Demonstrates at least two years of recent experience in a sterile processing environment.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Shows proficiency in sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and infection control standards.
