Job Description

Job Summary:
The Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiography Technologist performs advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging to assist cardiologists in diagnosing and managing cardiac conditions. The role includes conducting a variety of echocardiograms and supporting structural heart procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiographic procedures, including m-mode, 2D, 3D, spectral Doppler, color Doppler, tissue Doppler, strain imaging, bubble studies, and contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiograms.
  • Assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms, both 2D and 3D, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
  • Conduct exercise and pharmacology stress echocardiograms and imaging for structural heart interventions.
  • Operate Electronic Medical Records to document test results accurately and efficiently.
  • Administer IV contrast agents for ultrasound imaging enhancement based on protocol and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff across multiple sites, including inpatient, outpatient, and off-campus locations, to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Be registered as a Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS).
  • Have at least 1 year of clinical experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Hold an Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited echocardiography program.
  • Maintain BLS certification through AHA or ARC standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic techniques, EKG rhythms, and ultrasound safety protocols.
  • Be willing to work at all Heart and Vascular Institute sites on occasion.
