Job Summary:


Coordinates the decontamination, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with sterilization standards. Supports surgical and clinical departments by maintaining a sterile environment and managing reprocessed equipment efficiently.



Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assemble surgical instrument sets and trays accurately for upcoming procedures.
  
• Decontaminate, sterilize, and inspect instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
  
• Record and verify sterilization cycle data, biological test results, and loaner instrument logs.
  
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized Sterile Processing Department environment daily.
  
• Assist with room turnover, terminal cleaning, and supply management in operating areas as needed.
  
• Perform diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment and evaluate instrument safety and functionality.
  
  
  
  Qualifications:
  
• Hold a Sterile Processing Technician certification OR comparable formal training.
  
• Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent; technical degree preferred.
  
• Have at least two years of recent experience in sterile processing or a related field.
  
• Maintain current BLS certification.
  
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization procedures, biological testing, and infection control standards.
