Job Description
Job Summary:
The High Risk Labor & Delivery RN is responsible for assessing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care for obstetric patients in an acute setting. This role emphasizes patient/family education, care transitions, and holistic, individualized treatment to ensure optimal maternal and fetal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in high-risk obstetric cases, including delivery and postpartum management.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans that address psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Educate patients and their families regarding pregnancy, labor, postpartum recovery, and potential complications.
- Foster collaborative relationships with healthcare teams, patients, and support systems through effective communication.
- Monitor patient status using advanced ECG skills and respond promptly to clinical needs.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, certifications, and licensing requirements, including timely documentation.
Qualifications:
- Possess valid CA RN Licensure with current Nursys verification.
- Hold BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and intermediate EKG testing certifications with valid expiration dates.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of experience in obstetrics and labor and delivery.
- Have recent Epic EMR experience.
- Be able to pass on-site EKG testing with at least 80%.
- Meet all compliance and credentialing requirements prior to start date.
