Job Description

Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides skilled rehabilitative services to patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. They support treatment plans aimed at improving cognitive and physical functioning and assist patients in achieving their therapy goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and implement evidence-based clinical interventions for patients with cognitive or physical disorders.
  • Administer therapeutic procedures such as ADL retraining, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of assistive devices.
  • Assess patient progress regularly and communicate findings to the supervising therapist to modify treatment plans accordingly.
  • Document treatment sessions, patient responses, and progress accurately in electronic health records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and provide consultation to patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment and progress.
  • Support patient discharge planning by contributing to summaries and ensuring all documentation meets clinical requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Hold an active Massachusetts COTA license and active state licensure/registration, if applicable.
  • Possess at least 1 year of OTA experience in LTC or rehab settings.
  • Demonstrate 1+ years of relevant occupational therapy assistant experience.
  • Be proficient in documenting clinical interventions and patient progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Commit to adhering to NBCOT / AOTA and state practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervising occupational therapists and support staff.
