Job Description
Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care in the Labor and Delivery department, ensuring the safety and well-being of mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth process. Supervises and coordinates with multidisciplinary team members to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients’ health status and identify any risk factors related to labor and delivery.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to support the labor process and postpartum recovery.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other providers to ensure timely and appropriate interventions.
- Educate and support patients and their families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Monitor fetal and maternal vital signs, and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies.
- Delegate tasks to nursing team members and coordinate care activities to ensure smooth workflows.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Possess at least two years of recent labor and delivery nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification is required; NRP certification is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
