Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Echo Technologist performs diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing cardiac conditions. They ensure high-quality imaging and patient care by following established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct echocardiography exams including 2-D, M-Mode, spectral, color flow Doppler, transesophageal, stress, and other ultrasound procedures.
- Record and document procedure data accurately in patient charts and electronic medical records, alerting physicians of critical results.
- Maintain and disinfect ultrasound equipment and accessories to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Assist with related cardiopulmonary tests such as EKGs, event and cardiac monitor application, pulmonary function tests, and Doppler studies.
- Support departmental operations through supply management, clerical tasks, patient transport, and supporting staff.
- Participate in CQI initiatives, contribute to staff training, and assist with departmental meetings and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Hold an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution or relevant on-the-job training with an allied health associate’s degree.
- Possess cardiovascular credentialing from CCI or ARDMS, with registration or eligibility, and current CPR certification.
- Have 1-2 years of echocardiography experience, including proficiency in 2-D echo, M-Mode, Doppler, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Possess thorough knowledge of clinical interventions, equipment, and patient safety protocols.
