Job Description

Job Summary:


The Clinical Dietitian position is responsible for providing comprehensive medical nutrition therapy for inpatients and outpatients within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The role involves nutritional assessment, counseling, and education tailored to the cultural and individual needs of patients, primarily serving Alaska Native/American Indian populations.



Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nutritional screening, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation for ambulatory and hospitalized patients using the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized dietary plans aligned with clinical and cultural considerations.
  • Document all nutrition care activities accurately in patients' medical records, ensuring compliance with departmental protocols.
  • Provide nutrition education, counseling, and outreach in community settings, including health fairs and community programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, including Diabetes Team and Patient Care Conferences, to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Assist with menu modifications, nutrient analysis, and ensuring dietary needs are met for hospital and long-term care residents.



    Qualifications:
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Institutional Management from an accredited program.
  • Complete an approved dietetic internship program.
  • Possess a valid Dietetic Registration credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Maintain a valid Alaska state license to practice as a dietitian.
  • Preferred: Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical, counseling, and communication skills, with proficiency in electronic medical records and basic computer applications.
