Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide specialized oncology care within a telemetry unit, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive assessments, treatment administration, and patient education. They will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to manage acute and chronic conditions, particularly oncology-related diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor, and record patient conditions, ensuring accurate documentation of clinical findings.
• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other IV medications following safety protocols.
• Titrate medications and manage titratable drips such as Heparin; handle set rate infusions when required.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips, responding promptly to changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists to coordinate patient care.
• Adhere to infection control standards, including neutropenic precautions and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with recent experience in Oncology and telemetry units.
• Certification in BLS; ACLS preferred; NIHSS desirable.
• Oncology-certified (ONCC or OS/ONS) credentials highly advantageous.
• Experience with complex oncology patient populations, including chemo administration and chest tube management.
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips and titrate IV drips independently.
• Strong nursing assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
