Job Summary:
The First Assist role supports surgical teams in a fast-paced OR environment, primarily assisting in orthopedic and neuro surgeries. This position requires experienced, certified surgical assistants proficient in assisting with complex procedures and working independently.

Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures, including orthopedics and neuro cases.
• Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout surgeries.
• Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to facilitate smooth surgical workflows.
• Document case details accurately in the EMR system and adhere to unit protocols.
• Support room turnovers and equipment sterilization to maintain efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Hold CAAHEP accredited Surgical Assistant certification, with at least 1 year of experience in the specialty.
• Possess a minimum of 2-3 prior travel assignments, demonstrating adaptability in various settings.
• Be proficient in assisting with orthopedic and neuro surgeries, with familiarity in complex case management.
• Maintain active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications for RNs; CST or CSFA for First Assistants.
• Comply with state licensing requirements and disclose all relevant licenses at submission.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.
