Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the CVICU provides specialized, patient-centered care to critically ill cardiac surgery and open-heart patients. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal recovery and safety throughout the patient’s- care journey.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms to identify changes promptly.
• Implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and shared decision-making.
• Administer medications, including those related to cardiac stability and intensive care protocols.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery processes, and post-discharge care.

Qualifications:

• Valid state RN license with current certification in BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC).
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU or CVICU nursing experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with cardiac rhythm interpretation and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
• Experience with open-heart surgery patients and use of Impella and balloon pumps preferred.
• Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
• Ability to work effectively with adult and geriatric populations, demonstrating clinical excellence.
