Job Summary:

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) is responsible for performing skin puncture and venipuncture procedures to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages. Under supervision, they ensure proper specimen handling and deliver quality service within the clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform skin puncture and venipuncture procedures accurately and efficiently on patients across all age groups.
• Enter patient data and specimen information into laboratory computer systems, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with patients and visitors, providing courteous and professional service.
• Process various laboratory specimens, including microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank samples.
• Prepare and load specimens onto automated laboratory instruments following established protocols.
• Restock supplies, maintain cleanliness of work areas and storage spaces, and assist with specimen referral and inventory management.

Qualifications:

• Meet California regulatory certification requirements for clinical laboratories or equivalent credentials.
• Possess strong knowledge of test terminology and laboratory procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and specimen processing.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and professional telephone etiquette.
• Ability to handle specimens carefully and maintain laboratory safety standards.
• Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or phlebotomy role preferred.
