Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse specializes in providing comprehensive oncology care, including the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and injections. This role involves patient education, clinical procedures, and ensuring safety and compliance in a fast-paced oncology setting.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections following provider orders.
• Access and manage port-a-caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters for medication delivery and blood draws.
• Perform venipuncture, dressing changes, and lab collections via ports and catheters.
• Monitor and document patient responses to treatments, maintaining accurate records of medications, procedures, and clinical observations.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on medications, side effects, disease management, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration and handle hazardous drugs with proper PPE and disposal procedures.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license required with experience in oncology preferred.
• Proficiency in administering IV therapies, including chemo and targeted agents.
• Knowledge of port access, catheter care, and venipuncture techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records, particularly Epic EMR.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols for handling hazardous medications.
• Excellent patient communication and education skills.
