Job Description

Job Summary:
The Director of Labor and Delivery provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the maternity services department, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality care for mothers and newborns. This role involves guiding clinical teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the Labor & Delivery department, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Mentor, develop, and support nursing and clinical staff through recruitment, training, and professional growth initiatives.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and leadership to coordinate care and achieve departmental goals.
  • Oversee departmental resources, staffing, and budgeting to maintain efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement quality improvement projects to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Possess at least 10 years of clinical experience in Labor & Delivery.
  • Exhibit 5+ years of progressive leadership or management experience in healthcare settings.
  • Maintain an active RN license in Colorado or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Hold BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications; additional maternal/neonatal credentials preferred.
