Job Description

Job Summary: The Radiation Oncology Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, collaborating closely with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality, continuous care. This role involves education, counseling, assessment, and coordination of services for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient conditions and implement appropriate nursing interventions related to radiation therapy and disease management.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment procedures, potential side effects, and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and interdisciplinary team members to develop and modify care plans.
  • Facilitate referrals to supportive services, including rehabilitation, hospice, nutritional counseling, and social support resources.
  • Maintain clear documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Current Colorado RN license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience specializing in Radiation Oncology.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Knowledge of oncology treatment protocols, patient education, and chronic illness management.
