Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to trauma and surgical patients within a busy inpatient unit. Deliver comprehensive patient assessments, administer treatments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans tailored to trauma and surgical needs.
• Administer medications, including titratable drips such as Heparin, PCA, Insulin, and others per protocol.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, lab results, and diagnostic strips to validate patient status.
• Manage complex wound care, drains, devices, and traumatic injuries, including chest tubes and respiratory support.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists, care management, and surgical teams to coordinate care.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and responses accurately in electronic health records.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with current state authorization.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Level 1 Trauma and general surgery units.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Epic electronic health record systems.
• Possess BLS certification; additional certifications such as ACLS or TNCC preferred.
• Experience managing complex wound care, drains, and traumatic injuries.
• Ability to read and interpret medical strips and diagnostic data.
