Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide inpatient rehabilitation Speech Language Pathology services for patients requiring dysphagia and cognitive communication assessment and treatment. Deliver time-sensitive care using evidence-based therapy and standard inpatient documentation practices to support safe swallowing and functional recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct bedside swallow examinations to assess swallowing safety and diet recommendations
- Perform MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Study) evaluations as indicated by referrals
- Deliver treatment for dysphagia, including structured therapy sessions (30–45 minutes)
- Provide cognitive assessment and treatment to support neurologic recovery goals
- Support stroke rehabilitation initiatives through targeted speech/language therapy interventions
- Document patient progress and clinical findings in Meditech EMR
Qualifications:
- Hold an active CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) in Speech-Language Pathology
- Maintain an active GA license (or be eligible for immediate GA licensure)
- Demonstrate experience with dysphagia evaluation and cognitive assessment/treatment
- Provide documented experience in stroke rehabilitation and related inpatient therapy settings
- Demonstrate experience completing MBSS and administering cognitive screening/therapy interventions
- Prefer experience with VitalStim and FEES; prioritize candidates with TBI experience
