Job Description
Job Summary:
As an Operating Room RN, you will deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout all phases of surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes. This multifaceted role involves functioning as a circulating nurse, scrub technician, and PACU caregiver, offering opportunities to expand your clinical expertise within a critical access hospital setting. Your contributions will directly impact patient care in a community-focused healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative nursing care across pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia recovery phases.
- Serve in multiple roles including circulator, scrub nurse, and PACU nurse to facilitate smooth surgical operations.
- Maintain patient safety and clinical standards by following AORN guidelines, accurately documenting care, and participating in surgical safety protocols such as time-outs.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Participate in on-call duties, responding within 30 minutes to cases and supporting after-hours surgical needs.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited RN nursing program.
- Hold a current RN license for Vermont or a multistate license.
- Possess a minimum of two years of perioperative nursing experience.
- Maintain current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Show flexibility to work across multiple perioperative roles with training support for skill development.
