Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for delivering expert perioperative nursing care to patients of all ages undergoing surgical procedures. Under the supervision of surgical services leadership, the nurse ensures patient safety, supports sterile techniques, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal surgical outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients preoperatively to develop comprehensive, individualized care plans.
• Implement perioperative nursing interventions in accordance with AORN standards and best practices.
• Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques and ensuring proper sterilization of equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to facilitate understanding and cooperation.
• Document all patient care activities, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, postoperative care, and recovery expectations.

Qualifications:

• Current licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 2 years operating room nursing experience.
• Completion of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and safety standards.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure situations.
