Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive patient care, supporting women throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum. The role involves circulating, floating to Mother Baby units, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and monitor patient care by continuously assessing health status and analyzing data to identify diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide education and support throughout labor and delivery.
- Employ strategies to promote a safe environment, ensure patient safety, and improve nursing practice quality.
- Provide leadership by evaluating personal nursing practices and contributing to peer development.
- Float to other units as necessary and take on safety companion roles to maintain patient safety.
Qualifications:
- Hold valid Montana RN license and required certifications including BLS, NRP (recert every 2 years), and FHM series certificate.
- Demonstrate proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring and modified primary nursing.
- Possess at least one year of labor and delivery experience.
- Show competence in clinical judgment, patient assessment, and planning.
- For Lactation RNs: Certification in lactation consulting/counseling (CLC, IBCLC).
- Ability to work varied shifts in a fast-paced environment; strong decision-making skills.
