Job Description
Job Summary:
A Certified Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for supporting ophthalmology departments by performing clinical tasks, assisting with patient care, and ensuring the proper operation of ophthalmic procedures. This role requires compliance with healthcare standards and protocols to deliver quality eye care services.
Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Document patient histories, test results, and clinical notes accurately.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Support patient education and provide post-procedure instructions.
- Complete required modules and certifications timely to maintain credentialing.
Qualifications:
- Valid Certified Ophthalmic Assistant credential.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in ophthalmic assistive roles.
- Possess and maintain current NJ or Compact license.
- Pass a basic arrhythmia exam during orientation for RN or Allied candidates.
- Provide proof of full COVID vaccination and booster.
- Submit recent supervisory or manager reference within 1 year.
