Job Summary:
Providing specialized psychiatric nursing care to adult patients in a locked unit setting, the registered nurse will manage patients with various psychiatric diagnoses, ensuring safety and therapeutic support. The role involves hands-on patient care, medication administration, and collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver quality mental health services.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medications and monitor patient responses in accordance with treatment plans.
• Perform detailed assessments and document clinical observations accurately using electronic health records.
• Provide hands-on care including incontinence management, wound care, catheterization, and mobility assistance.
• Maintain safety protocols, including 15-minute safety checks and 1:1 monitoring for involuntary or high-risk patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Adhere to unit policies, including seclusion procedures and use of specialized equipment such as lift devices and IV therapy tools.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in geriatric psychiatric inpatient units.
• Strong skills in managing patients with behavioral disturbances, dementia, mood disorders, and psychosis.
• Experience with Foley catheters, wound care, IV therapy, and lift equipment preferred.
• BCLS and CPI certifications required; AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted.
• Ability to handle complex patient needs with compassion and professionalism.
